Interview New York

http://www.interviewnewyork.com/ is a registered non profit website/ interactive public art project. We want to interview everyone in New York City (and have the project expand to other cities if successful) with the same three questions:

What are you proud of?
What are you afraid of?
What gives you hope?

The videos will be user generated, except for the first thousand (or so) shot by our volunteer team to seed the website. The videos will be tagged by geography (neighborhood within the 5 buroughs) as well as whatever the poster decides to tag them with.

New York City is a wonderfully diverse city where often just a few blocks or a subway stop can change the world you know. The inspiration for Interview New York is to engage people to speak for themselves, telling personal stories in an interesting and genuine way, in a safe fun environment. These stories are an irreplaceable resource with incredible power to connect neighbors within a neighborhood, and people across the city.

Colin's afraid of getting eaten by a great white shark

For the past year Cameron Russell has been working to build a non-profit called Interview New York. The goal of Interview New York is to interview everyone in New York City with the same three questions:

What are you proud of?

What are you afraid of?

What gives you hope?

With a team of fifteen generous designers/developers/film students and others they have managed to pull together a beta site for zero cost (see http://www.interviewnewyork.com/).

The next ten days are crucial for the success of Interview New York. They are in the running for a $200,000 Knight News Grant and need your help to win it. Please go to this link-- http://tinyurl.com/y85mm4w -- to find out more about the project and most importantly RATE AND COMMENT before January 31rst! And after voting, retweet/facebook/email/blog our project link and get the word out!

All I can say is: Colin's afraid of getting eaten by a great white shark.

How about you?

Interview New York: Our Cities, Our Videos, Our Voices

Cameron Russell and her boyfriend Andrew Elliott (also a good friend of WOMEN) are working on an interactive public art project: Interview New York

The basic idea of Interview New York is to interview everyone in New York City (and expand to other cities if successful) with the same three questions.

1.What are you proud of? (A question that allows us to introduce ourselves)

2.What are you scared of? (This could take on a social aspect or just be interesting across different demographics)

3.And finally, what gives you hope? (So the interview ends on an upbeat note!)

The interviews will be user generated videos (like youtube) except for the first thousand or so which they will do to seed the website. They will be tagged by geography (neighborhood) as well as whatever the poster decides to tag them with.

Though they won't be launching until the summer we are shooting portraits for a book we will publish in conjunction with the website. So if you're interested in being part of the book contact us and send us your interview video. We are looking for New Yorkers of all ages, genders, professions, and lives who have a voice they want heard. Email Cameron@interviewnewyork.com.
